Third Avenue Playhouse Announces Summer Season

Third Avenue Playhouse has announced its acting company and student interns for the 2019 summer season.

The season begins with The Absolute Brilliance of Leonard Pelkey, May 16 – June 9. A detective unravels the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who goes missing. Alan Kopischke stars, and Robert Boles directs.

Performed June 27 – July 20, The Dig features Karen Moeller (Mattie), Peter Reeves (Jamie), Christopher Sheard (young Jamie), William Bolz (Tom, et al.), and Eva Nimmer (Dr. Caldwell, et al.). After flying across the globe for his archaeology career, Mattie’s older brother, Jamie, has a breakdown. Thirty years later, she must investigate an item from his past. Alexander Coddington directs.

The musical La La Lucille will run July 25 – Sept. 1. It features Samantha Sostarich (Lucille Tuttle Smith), Adam Estes (John Smith), James Valcq (Thomas Tuttle), Alex M. Sabin (Alfredo), Lydia Rose Eiche (Victorine/Fanny), acting intern Meghan Jarecki (Peggy Hughes), Ryan Cappleman (Britton Hughes/co-choreographer), Drew Brhel (Col. Marion, et al.), and acting intern Zachary Dean (Mr. Rollins, et al.). James Valcq directs this riotous, fast-paced farce about a husband and wife who plot to become temporarily divorced to claim an inheritance.

Tomfoolery wraps up the summer season, Sept. 12 – Oct. 20. Featuring Bradley Halverson, Joel Kopischke and Carmen Risi, it’s a revue of the witty, wicked and twisted world of satirical songwriter Tom Lehrer. Robert Boles directs; Ryan Cappleman provides musical direction and choreography.
