Third Avenue Playhouse Hosts Spring Theatre Classes

The Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay will host Spring Theatre Classes for students in grades 2nd – 12th from April 12 – May 19. Each class will meet once a week for six weeks. Instructors include actor, director, and choreographer Amy Ensign and Interim Artistic Director for Door Shakespeare Ross Dippel.

Class options include “Creative Dramatics 1” for 2nd – 4th graders, which will focus on creative play, theatre games, and storytelling; “Creative Dramatics 2” for 5th – 7th graders, which will feature theatre games and improvisation; “Person, Place, Action!” for 8th – 12th graders, which will focus on three factors an actor explores when on stage: person, place, and action; and “Fundamentals of Scene Study” for 8th – 12th graders, which will focus on ways to activate both classical and contemporary texts in rehearsal and performance.

Ensign is familiar to Door County audience for her many performances with Door Shakespeare, American Folklore Theatre, Isadoora Theatre Company, and the Third Avenue Playhouse. For more information about Ensign, visit http://www.amyensign.com.

Dippel brings many years of classical theatre experience with him as an actor, director, educator, producer and professional fight choreographer.
