Third Avenue Presents Annual Hagen Family Concert

The Hagen Family will bring its rich legacy of music to Third Avenue Playhouse on July 23 at 7:30 pm.

Often referred to as Washington Island’s version of the Von Trapps, family members Julian Hagen and his sisters Leila Nehlsen and Linda Swan learned to sing and play from their late father, Jack. Over the years, they have passed their love of music on to their children and, now, their children’s families, resulting in as many as 20 performers sometimes sharing the stage at a Hagen Family concert.

Veteran Door County musician Julian Hagen is the most visible and public performer of the clan. A fifth-generation islander, his music is inspired by hundreds of years of ballads and folk tunes from the rich and historic culture of Door County.

This year, popular Door County violinist Lynn Gudmundsen will join the family for an evening of folk, country, pop – and maybe just a few stories and jokes – Island style.

Tickets for the Hagen Family Summer Concert are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and students and $8 for children. Tickets are on sale at the theater box office, open Monday through Friday, 10 am – 3 pm, located at 239 N. Third Avenue, Sturgeon Bay and one hour prior to performances. Tickets are also available at Dancing Bear, 13 N. Third Avenue, Java on Jefferson, corner of Fifth & Jefferson, and online at http://www.ThirdAvenuePlayhouse.com.
