This Weekend in Door County: Lavender Days on the Island

The summer season is finally upon us and there are too many different activities to keep track of. Good thing The Peninsula Pulse is here to help. Check out all the fun happening in Door County this weekend.

 

Friday, July 20

Live Music

Throughout the entire county you will find a plethora of music choices. Baise, Miller & Ellington will be performing at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center at 7:30 pm; The Garage at Husby’s has two live acts, singer/song writer Todd Carey from 3-6 and The Big Wu, a rock, blues, soul, county, bluegrass, funk band from 8-11 pm.

Also in Sister Bay at the Stabbur Beer Garden Double Down will be playing your favorite hits from the ’70s until now from 6-9 pm; and finally in Baileys Harbor check out the Go Rounds with their unique brand of psychedelic Americana Pop at the Door County Brewing Co. Saturday, July 21

Lavender Days and Fly-in Fish Boil

Spend a day on Washington Island and enjoy a day of all things lavender. Listen to live music from Paris Schutz, participate in lavender based activities, and sip on lavender infused drinks all day from 10-5:30.

In between your lavender activities stop by the Washington Island Airport for the 65th annual Fly-in Fish Boil. The fish boil features music, free hayrides and fun for the entire family. Read more>>

Summer Cherry Harvest Festival

It high cherry-picking in Door County season so if you’re not on Washington Island, stop at Lautenbach’s Orchard in Fish Creek to enjoy complimentary wine and specialty food tasting, pick-your-own tart cherries, free guided tours, wagon rides, live music, kids activities, and more! The fun also includes: Cherry Donut Eating Contest, Cherry Pie Eating Contest and the popular Cherry Pit Spit Competition. Read more>>

Kewaunee Door County Salmon Fishing Tournament 

I’m sure salmon out there enjoys fishing? Well, starting Saturday and ending July 29 is the 36th annual Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament. Try your chances at a share of $50,000 by hooking a giant salmon. First prize takes home $10,000. Read more>>

Sunday, July 22

Brick Party by the Bay

Bring you kid and your inner-kid to see amazing LEGO creations in Sister Bay. Meet the designers; create your own LEGO designs; and play LEGO inspired games. Food and refreshments by the Boy and Girl Scouts. Music by DJ Michael Raye. Read more>>

Plein Air Festival

The roadsides of Door County will be dotted with easels and artists this week as the Plein Air Festival returns for its 12th year. Thirty-nine artists will be painting at specific locations outdoors, while others will pop up in other locations that inspire. Read more>>
