All weekend long join the festival of fun in Sister Bay where you can find live music, kids’ carnival, food vendors, a vintage boat show and fireworks. See the full schedule here.

Sausage Fest at One Barrel Brewing Company

Find an Oktoberfest beer tent from One Barrel Brewing Co., hot sausages and more from Wild Tomato and live music from Sugar Bush Boys (12-4pm) and Love Monkeys (5-10pm) on Aug. 31.

Newport Wilderness Days

On Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, Newport State Park will host Newport Wilderness Days(newportwildernesssociety.org): an event that started in 1992 as a way for the Newport Wilderness Society – the park’s official friends group – to showcase its beautiful park. Volunteers will lead hikes and programs that cover many areas of interest. All programs are free, but a state-park admission sticker is required.

Belgian Kermiss in Brussels

Sept. 1. Featuring live music, food, kids games, volleyball tournament, a live auction, bag raffle, and more. Benefits the St. Francis & St. Mary Parish of Brussels.

Northern Sky Debuts First Show in New Theater

The Gould Theater in the new Northern Sky Creative Center will open Aug. 30 with the world premiere of Dad’s Season Tickets, a show set in 1996, with the book, music and lyrics (a most unusual trifecta accomplishment) by Matt Zembrowski, a former AFT musician, performer and playwright.

Theater is in Full Swing

“Silent Sky” is at Peninsula Players, “La La Lucille” is at Third Avenue Playhouse, “The Odd Couple” is at Baileys Harbor Town Hall and “The Moors” is at Margaret Lockwood Gallery.

Long Weekend of Live Music

There is no shortage of live music this long weekend with bands and soloists taking the stage across the county. You’ll find a lot of familiar favorites along with some acts from out of town like Nobody Famous, Twins of Franklin and Family Business Band.

Get Outside!

There’s also plenty of ways to find yourself busy outside, with blacksmith demos, a new moon hike, farmers’ and craft markets and more.

Art & Galleries

Gills Rock Art Fest is happening on Sunday the 31st where 20 artists will showcase their work, with many doing demonstrations. Deb Rosen will offer readings in numerology and handwriting analysis. Local author Carolyn Kane will be on hand to sign her book, “A Rural Pen.”
