Three Door County Artists Collaborate for “Love Of Place”

“Far Afield” by Donna Brown.

Three extraordinary artists, with three unique visions, utilizing three diverse media, will all be brought together by the “Love Of Place” exhibit at Woodwalk Gallery. The public is invited to the Opening Reception for this collaborative exhibit featuring the works of Door County artists Donna Brown, Kirsten Christianson and Renee’ Schwaller, on Sunday, July 12, 4:30 – 7 pm.

Food and beverages will be available and George Sawyn will provide musical entertainment.

“Needle Tracings of the Heart” by Kirsten Christianson.

Donna Brown’s work is rooted in Door County’s natural beauty where she has explored various media, raised her family and operated White Barn Gallery for 15 years. Her energy and perception comes through everything she paints as a vibrant presence in the place she loves.

Kirsten Christianson is an environmental artist, sculptor, paper maker and creator of mixed media, three-dimensional assemblages. In her creations she works hands-on with the basic organic elements of the Door County landscape, including all kinds of plant fibers. She is the coordinator of Woodwalk’s Paper Making Center offering classes throughout the summer; her studio is Telemark Papers in Algoma.

Ceramic Pot by Renee’ Schwaller.

Renee’ Schwaller is the owner/artist at Off The Wheel Pottery in Egg Harbor. Her beautifully handcrafted pottery and jewelry are often shaped by whimsy and intrigue, often thematic and related to life as she experiences it in Door County.

Together these three women artists express “Love Of Place” for viewers to enjoy, compare and contrast, relish and celebrate. The exhibit will be on display from July 10 through August 17.

Woodwalk Gallery and Events Center is located at 6746 County Road G, two miles north of Carlsville and five miles south of Egg Harbor. For more information call 920.868.2912 or go to http://www.WoodwalkGallery.com.
