Three Months of Antarctic Research

Scientific research in Antarctica will be the focus of a presentation by Bruce Smith, Atmospheric Education Resource Agent for the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The presentation is sponsored by the Climate Change Coalition of Door County and will be held May 7 at 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in north Ephraim.

Smith spent three months in Antarctica as part of the National Science Foundation’s Teachers Experiencing Antarctic (TEA) program and assisting with the work of the Cape Roberts Project, an international, multi-year drilling project on the Ross Ice Shelf. Smith will describe his experiences living and working at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Smith will also describe the AMS Education programs and his perspectives on climate change education.
