“Thrills on Third” Halloween Celebration

Sturgeon Bay’s first annual “Thrills on Third” Halloween celebration is set for Oct. 27. The Third Avenue Business Association is planning the event for local kids and families; it includes pumpkin painting, a costume parade with prizes and trick-or-treating.

“Thrills on Third” begins with free pumpkin painting for kids at Artists Guild from 10 am – 12 pm. Pumpkins and paint will be provided free on a first-come, first-served basis; no pre-registration required. The painted pumpkins will be used to decorate Third Avenue during the festivities and may be taken home after trick-or-treating.

The costume parade is scheduled from 1 – 2 pm. Children and adults are encouraged to dress up and to costume their pets (leashes required for pets). No pre-registration is required; participants will meet at Martin Park (corner of Third Ave. and Oregon St.) and parade south on Third Avenue to Jefferson Street. Third Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic during the parade. Judging of the costumes takes place at the Clock Tower and several prizes will be awarded.

Following the costume parade, Third Avenue businesses invite children to trick-or-treat at their stores from 2 – 3 pm.

Avenson Photography will also be offering free complimentary costume portraits. Children and their parents in costumes may stop at 24 N. Third Ave. to have their photos taken.

Third Avenue Business Association hopes Sturgeon Bay residents will participate in “Thrills on Third” and that it becomes an annual event.
