Tia Nelson to Discuss Climate Change

Tia Nelson, daughter of Earth Day founder Sen. Gaylord Nelson, will speak at a free, virtual Climate Change Coalition of Door County program (climatechangedoorcounty.com/upcoming-events/tia-nelson) on Nov. 18, 7 pm.

Nelson, who is the managing director for climate at the Outrider Foundation, will present Outrider’s video When the Earth Moves and discuss the environmental movement’s greatest challenge: climate change. Outrider believes that political and cultural divisions disrupt climate progress, so it works to unite parties and communities in taking responsible action.

Nelson – internationally recognized as a champion for environmental stewardship and climate-change education – has worked with The Nature Conservancy and as the first director of the Global Climate Change Initiative, for which she earned the EPA’s Climate Protection Award in 2000.

The Climate Change Coalition of Door County (climatechangedoorcounty.com) is a nonpartisan organization that seeks to increase public understanding of climate change and its many detrimental impacts.
