Tickets Now On Sale for “Home for the Holidays with AFT’”

Local musical favorites Doc Heide and Eric Lewis will be featured in “Home for the Holidays,” a special winter concert show presented by American Folklore Theatre (AFT) during New Year’s Week. The show will weave together beautiful seasonal music, original songs, and a few tunes from AFT’s past shows.

Featured will be material from Doc and Eric’s acclaimed CD, Christmas in Door County. The duo were called “masters of the contemporary acoustic idiom” by critic Richard Banks (ChristmasReviews.com), who described the CD as “graceful, peaceful, soothing” with the “delicate bouquet of a fine red wine.”

“The songs on the CD are mostly rare old carols from England and Europe,” Heide said. “They have a dark, mystical quality that calls to mind snowy woods and fields lit by starlight. And none of them mention Frosty the Snowman.”

Doc and Eric will also perform songs from a forthcoming CD and some numbers from previous albums. There’ll even be a sing-a-long or two.

Although this is the first time the duo has performed in “Home for the Holidays,” they are well-known for sell-out concerts at Camp David and for popular shows at the Door Community Auditorium.

Heide is co-founder of AFT and has just returned to the county from Green Bay, where he appeared in Guys & Does. The show, which he created with Lee Becker and Richard Rodgers Award winner Paul Libman, sold out its entire 54-show run in Door County this fall.

Lewis is 2003 winner of the Best String Player Award from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences-Memphis Chapter. He has toured with Robin and Linda Williams and opened for such luminaries as Travis Tritt and Chuck Berry.

Evening performances of “Home for the Holidays” are scheduled for 7:30 pm on December 29, January 1 and 2. There will be two matinee performances at 4 pm on December 30 and 31.
