Tickets on Sale for Birch Creek “Italian Night” Concert

Birch Creek Performance Center’s volunteer group, The Associates, is sponsoring Mangiare Italiano, an Italian dinner buffet and concert, on Sunday, October 25 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm in Birch Creek’s Juniper Hall.

The event will feature the program “Postcards, Side Trips and Songs,” featuring Cynthia Stiehl, mezzo-soprano and Judith Jackson, piano. The program will take guests on an Italian musical journey with arias, solo piano pieces, narration and song. Richard Cumming’s work, “Postcard From Italy – Twelve Explorations and Side Trips for Adventurous Pianists,” is expertly adapted to Cynthia Stiehl’s voice. Jackson joins Stiehl for this musical travelogue from Maggiore to Positano, with the adventure being narrated by Alan Kopischke.

Locally, regionally, and nationally known, Stiehl and Jackson have traveled the country throughout their musical careers before settling in Door County. Stiehl holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Lawrence Conservatory in Appleton and has been on stage since the age of 14. Stiehl is best known for her concerts of 20th and 21st century American art song as well as musical theatre. Her repertoire extends from Bach to Rodgers and Hammerstein and beyond, and she has appeared with symphonies, choirs, and ensembles in Florida, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Wisconsin. She recently paired up with Birch Creek’s steel band.

Jackson is an opera coach who has worked for the San Francisco Opera, the Metropolitan Opera and the Chicago Opera Theatre. She is also an accomplished pianist, and has been a featured piano soloist with orchestras throughout the country.

Tickets for Mangiare Italiano are $50 per person. Pre-dinner socializing and beverages begins at 5:30 pm, with dinner to follow at 6:30. The concert follows dinner, and the evening will conclude with dessert and coffee. Seating is limited, and reservations are required.
