Time for the Ellison Bay Fall Art Crawl

It’s time again to head up to Ellison Bay for the annual Fall Art Crawl on Oct. 24 & 25, 10 am – 5 pm. Drive through the changing colors to this unique community of artist studio/galleries. Demonstrations, open studios, refreshments and prize drawings accompany the wonderful array of works for sale. For more information visit ellisonbayarts.com.

  • The potters at Clay Bay Pottery (11650 Hwy. 42), Jeanne and David Aurelius, will have new holiday candle lights, lady vases, mugs, and plates. There will also be new work from Mary Deneen, Martha Winter and jewelry from Sylvia Youell. Stop in and sign up to win a beautiful bowl. Refreshments served.
  • Turtle Ridge (11736 Mink River Rd.) is excited to host Jill Harding for a book signing of The Sign Fairy on Oct. 24 & 25. Turtle Ridge has been putting together some new looks in fiber and leather. There are hand-dyed, shibori vests in rich colors. Refreshments will be served along with a chance to win one of their creations.
  • Walk through the studio and gallery of Gills Rock Stoneware (12020 Hwy. 42) where there will be a variety of baking dishes, serving platters, bowls and mugs. Thor’s turkey sandwiches on homemade bread from their wood-fired oven will be served. Table linens and wooden products are also featured.
  • Sutra Gallery (12044 Hwy. 42) showcases emerging and established contemporary artists as well as renowned Bhil and Gond tribal artists from Madhya Pradesh. Sutra also features handmade Indian textiles, handmade art books, and fine art photography by Sutra proprietor Abbey Box.
  • Linden Gallery (12001 Mink River Rd.) glows with paintings from Chinese masters, as well works from local artists. There are also haunting photographs from excursions near the Linden Centre in China and a selection of gifts: painted bottles, Buddha figures, and Dali marble vases. Fashions for both women and men will be on sale for 10 percent off. Ginger cookies and tea will be served, along with a chance to win an elegant silk scarf.
  • New this year at Cousin’s Walk (11940 Lakeview Rd.) are Christmas aprons and pillows. There will be a demo of decorative painting, and Korean meatballs will be served. Sign up to win a harvest wreath.
  • Visit Island Orchard Cider (12040 Garrett Bay Rd.) and sample a glass of their award-winning ciders. Stop by their tasting room and try these crisp and refreshing ciders, gluten free, 6.9% ABV.
  • The Clearing Bookstore and Gift Shop (12171 Garrett Bay Rd.) will be open, along with the entire campus, for touring and hiking. Volunteers will demonstrate their arts and crafts in the Jens Jensen Center, and will serve cider and homemade cookies.
  • Ellison Bay Pottery (12156 Garrett Bay Rd.) will celebrate its 41st season by hosting a Raku Party. Participants can purchase an item (fish sculpture wall hanging or small vase), pick a glaze and they’ll fire it as you watch. Firings from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Refreshments will be served.
  • Drive north to Rob Williams Gallery (753 Isle View Rd.) to see Williams’ new landscape paintings and his wife Shirley’s black & white photography of Newport State Park. Sign up for a chance to win a free Rob Williams painting. Refreshments featuring Shirley’s famous poppy seed cake and cider.
