Toe-Tapping Double Bill of The Steel Wheels and Dom Flemons

The Steel Wheels

On July 23, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present a toe-tapping double bill of American roots music: Shenandoah Valley string band The Steel Wheels and American songster Dom Flemons.

The Steel Wheels have captured audiences across the country with their heady brew of soulful original mountain music and their deep commitment to roots and community. Based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, this dynamic four-piece string band marries old-time musical traditions with their own innovative sound, selling out venues from coast to coast.

Dom Flemons

Joining The Steel Wheels is Dom Flemons, co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, who performed to an enthusiastic audience at DCA in 2013. In his career as a solo performer, Flemons has come to be known as the “American Songster,” using his prodigious skills on banjo, guitar, harmonica, fife, bones, and quills to carry on and re-examine the deep traditions of American blues and folk music.

The Steel Wheels and Dom Flemons will perform at 8 pm. Tickets range from $22 to $38. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 pm. For tickets, call 920.868.2728, visit dcauditorium.org or stop by the box office.
