Toft Point Hike a Success

A capacity crowd hiked Baileys Harbor’s Toft Point on Aug. 27, led by Charlotte Lukes (right), co-founder of Friends of Toft Point; and Nick Anderson, a longtime Toft Point advocate. 

Exploring the distinctive old-growth forest and plant communities of this unspoiled corner of Door County, participants enjoyed stories of the Toft family’s unflagging efforts to preserve this landscape and Lukes’ wealth of information about trees, plants and mushrooms. The hike, a fundraiser for the Climate Change Coalition of Door County, concluded with lunch at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.
