Tool Museum Dedication

The Door County Historical Society will dedicate the newest addition to Heritage Village at Big Creek, the Madden Tool Museum, on Aug. 11 at 1 pm. Following the dedication, brothers and society members Mike and Patrick Madden will present the yesteryear program “Logging Tools of the Past.” Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.

The Madden Tool Museum is log construction on three sides with a traditional barn door, surrounded by stove wood construction on the front. The inside of the museum offers a space for demonstrations and programs. Exhibits consist of tool displays, a working hay fork, a kitchen tool display area, and a space for tool research and reference. Mike and Patrick will display, demonstrate and offer hands-on experiences with tools from the Door County logging era.

The Heritage Village at Big Creek is located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay. There is no admission fee, but a freewill offering in antique Ball Mason jars will be taken. Cake and lemonade will be served. The Village is open for self-guided tours prior to the presentation beginning at 10 am and after the presentation until 3 pm.
