Town Hall Bakery Presents “Wise Women and Witty Men”

On Friday, September 5 at 7 pm, four strong singer/songwriters with four poetic, slightly crazy views of the world will perform at the Town Hall Bakery in Jacksonport. In this last concert of the season, Jenny Bienemann, Robin Bienemann, Jeanne Kuhns and Dan Mayhew will weave their musical sounds into playful joyousness and moments of heartfelt clarity.

Performing songs like “King of the Boyfriends,” “The Pottery Barn Catalogue,” “Brown Eggs and Blueberries,” and “When Pigs Fly,” Jeanne and Jenny harmonize like angels and Dan and Robin rip up the floor with their excellent guitar work. They are “Wise Women and Witty Men,” though they have been known to trade the wisdom and wit back and forth.

With four styles of singing and guitar playing, these good friends come together on stage. Jenny Bienemann, from Chicago, is a folk singer known for hip guitar riffs, vocal overlays and idiosyncratic pacing. Door County’s Jeanne Kuhns sings a mix of blues, smokey jazz and modern singer/songwriter folk. Robin Bienemann, also from Chicago, puts together a worldview that is unexpected and delightful with edgy, funk, folk, rock guitar playing, and a classic ‘30s style voice. And finally, Dan Mayhew, previously of the Nashville music scene, has been blessing Door County with his country style vocals and inspired guitar playing for years now.

Special guest, poet Mary Durlin out of Green Bay, will share her performance style poetry with energy and passion.

The Town Hall Bakery, owned by Krista Olson and Don Jervis, is located at the south end of Jacksonport on Highway 57. Tickets $10 at the door.
