Town Hall Now Open

• A “ribbon” cutting was held the afternoon of Wednesday, December 16 to officially open the new and remodeled Town Hall and offices. Janet, Bud and Bill Casey did the honors of cutting the bright red ribbon. That evening the Town Board held its first regular monthly meeting at the Town Hall since last summer. An Open House is being planned for later this winter.

• The Tourism Zone Commission (TZC) also used the new facility on Thursday morning for their regular monthly meeting. The TZC holds its monthly meetings at various locations throughout the zone. Supervisor Goss is Liberty Grove’s representative on the TZC and gives a report on the commission at the first meeting of the Town Board each month.

• Supervisor Miller was in attendance in Madison on December 8 when the Northern Door County Coastal Byway application was approved by the WI Scenic Byway Advisory Board to move forward to Phase 2 of the application process. She has been instrumental in this effort, which should prove very beneficial to many projects in Door County.

• The Economic Sustainability Committee is gathering information on what resources are available to the town on the local, state and national levels to possibly assist local businesses and to attract new businesses to the town, and the IT Committee is looking at various possibilities to extend high speed internet throughout the town. Both committees consider this a key to a healthier economy in the town. The agendas and meeting times of all committees are posted on the Town Web site. Public input is always welcome.

• The board is continuing negotiations with the Gills Rock property owners for possible acquisition of their land. If an agreement is reached several informational sessions will be held to inform the public of the process and agreement. The decision will then be in the hands of the Town Electorate at a special Town Meeting.

• A Special Board Meeting will be held at the Town Hall on December 22 at 6 pm to hear a presentation by Fire Chief Chris Hecht on the proposed purchase of an aerial platform truck.

• The Town Hall and Shop will be closed December 24 and 25. On behalf of the staff, town crew and supervisors our wish to you for a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season.
