Travel Around the World in 80 Days with the YMCA and Peninsula Players

Members of the Door County YMCA may register today to join the 80 Day Club and travel around the world in 80 days with the Door County YMCA and Peninsula Players Theatre. Starting June 22, Door County YMCA members will be asked to do 30 minutes of exercise a day for 80 days, either at the YMCA or on their own. Their accomplishments will be tracked on a map of the world, which follows the various locations highlighted in the Peninsula Players 2009 season. Progress will be measured through the 80th day, which coincides with the opening of the Peninsula Players autumn production of Around the World in 80 Days. It runs September 9 through October 18, 2009.

Participants of the 80 Day Club will earn 215 miles for each 30-minute workout and will register their progress in either the Sturgeon Bay or Northern Door YMCA Program Center. The complete journey will bring 80 Day Club members nearly 17,250 miles.

Participants who complete the journey will see benefits to their overall health and have an opportunity to celebrate with other participants at the Players’ production of Around the World in 80 Days Wednesday, Sept. 23. Those completing the full journey will receive a 50 percent discount on their ticket and partial participants will receive a 10 percent discount. All participants receive a T-shirt at the close of the 80 days.

The Peninsula Players perform Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 7:30 pm in the summer. With the opening of the fall show Sept. 9, curtain times are Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 7 pm. The closing performance of each show will have a 4 pm matinee, July 5, July 26, August 16, Sept. 6 and Oct. 19. There are no performances on Mondays.
