Travelogue Series Focuses on England’s West Country

Wells Cathedral

On Oct. 19, the Kiwanis & Rotary Clubs of Northern Door will present the second program of their Travel & Adventure Cinema Series, England’s West Country. Live narration will accompany the film by audience favorites, Marcia and Monty Brown. The multi-talented Browns are not only accomplished travel film producers but are also seasoned entertainers and musicians.

In their film, England’s West Country: Bath & Beyond, they share that most visitors to England begin in London, and then proceed to a few scattered destinations – York, Stonehenge, the Lake District, etc. Their film’s journey; however, begins at Bath and proceeds westerly.

The film takes viewers into the legendary lands of King Arthur and his castle at Tintagel, the fictional Wessex of Thomas Hardy, and the country home of mystery writer Agatha Christie. Along the way, discover two national parks (Dartmoor and Exmoor), wild rocky coastlines, and a walking path over 600 miles long.

The West Country is made up of four diverse and fascinating counties: Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. The film includes visits to Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, the Dartmoor and Somerset Folk Festivals, and glimpses into England’s colorful history.

The screening is set for 7:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. Tickets are $7 or $36 for a season pass (for all six shows in the film series); children are free.
