Trees and Pure Abstraction

“City of Appleton” by Beverly Hart Branson.

The Door County Art League (DCAL) Gallery, Fish Creek, is featuring the art of Beverly Hart Branson and Stephanie C. Holznecht as artists of the week for June 7 – 13.

Trees are a favorite subject of Beverly Hart Branson. She says, “Young, old, dead or alive – they all have beauty and majesty.” Branson captures her favorite subjects in watercolor, ink, oil, pencil and with a camera, too. She paints en plein air, in a car and in her Treetop Studio.

Over the years, Stephanie C. Holznecht’s work has evolved from realism to abstract realism, collages, and ultimately to pure abstraction using fluid acrylic. On occasion Holznecht likes to paint realistic Door County sunsets and animals. Her art appeared in Art & Beyond Magazine and she was a guest on Meet the Artist segment, JATV in Janesville.

The DCAL gallery is open every day, except Wednesday, from 11 am to 5 pm, 3 pm on Sunday. The gallery, located in the rear courtyard of the Top of the Hill Shops, is a co-op venture staffed by the 23 working artists whose work is featured. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and enjoy browsing in a relaxed and friendly environment. For more information visit doorcountyartleague.org.
