Trios and Quintets the Focus of Midsummer’s Music’s Next Series

Midsummer’s Music will presents a series of concerts dedicated to the piano trios of Felix Mendelssohn and Robert and Clara Schumann June 29 through July 7. Featured Midsummer’s Music musicians include violinist David Perry, cellist Walter Preucil and pianist Jeannie Yu.

Through music and concert talks, the series will explore the fascinating intertwining of the musical and personal lives of the Schumanns with their friend and mentor, Mendelssohn. 

These piano trios will be performed at Björklunden on June 29, 7:30 pm; the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on July 5, 7 pm; The Clearing on July 6, 3 pm; and the Kress Pavilion on July 7, 3 pm.

Overlapping this series is another, June 26 through July 3, devoted to the quintets of Mozart and Brahms, with featured artists Fritz Foss (horn), Daniel Won (clarinet), Jeannie Yu (piano), David Perry and Ann Palen (violin), Allyson Fleck and Stephanie Preucil (viola), and Walter Preucil (cello).

These will be performed at Woodwalk Gallery on June 26, 7 pm, with an optional pre-concert picnic at 5 pm; the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on June 28, 7 pm; a salon concert on June 30, 3 pm; and Björklunden on July 3, 7:30 pm.
