Tumblers Added to PenArt’s SOUP! Benefit

Peninsula School of Art invites the public to celebrate its 10th annual SOUP! event by offering for purchase both handcrafted bowls and this year’s artisan-made tumblers, in honor of their Cheers to 10 Years theme. The purchase of a bowl for $15 or a tumbler for $20 entitles buyers to a complimentary and hot soup-and-bread buffet on Feb. 6, 11 am – 3 pm. Proceeds from the sale of the dishwasher, microwave and oven-safe items will benefit Door County Habitat for Humanity and Peninsula School of Art’s free Children’s Outreach programs.

SOUP! is a community-wide effort, with more than 500 school children and adults creating and decorating bowls with original designs and brightly colored glazes. The tumblers were thrown by Door County potter Adam Hutchinson and decorated by area artists. Door County Potters Guild members will also contribute “celebrity” bowls and drinking vessels for sale.

Food for SOUP! is donated by both Door County chefs and individuals.

According to PenArt executive director, Cathy Hoke, SOUP! exemplifies the spirit of giving in Door County.

“All ages of the community come together to help their neighbors in need,” she says. “For the past 10 years, the hundreds of volunteers who create bowls, make delicious food, and serve those who enjoy the buffet have ensured the success of SOUP! We anticipate that they will continue to do so in the future.”

Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 County F in Fish Creek. For more information, call 920.868.3455 or email [email protected].
