Turtle Ridge Presents “Fall Wool Expressions”

Mary Ellen Sisulak will demonstrate an ancient Japanese dye technique called “shibori” at Turtle Ridge Gallery on Sept. 28.

Door County artist Mary Ellen Sisulak has been creating beautiful leather handbags and fiber art for more than 30 years. Her newest endeavor involves merino wool and an ancient Japanese dye technique called “shibori.”

On Sept. 28, Turtle Ridge Gallery will conduct an open demonstration of the new collection’s creative process. Sip hot cider and watch as Sisulak performs the shibori technique and conjures all the rich color and textures of autumn, like purple asters, rust mums, glittering water and dappled turning leaves. Raw merino wool will be transformed into stunning wraps, shawls, ponchos and scarves – perfect pieces for fall and winter wardrobes. Stop in anytime from 10 am – 5 pm at the gallery, located at 11736 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay. For more information call 920.854.4839 or visit turtleridgegallery.com.
