Two- and Three-Dimensional Art

The Door County Art League (DCAL) Gallery, Fish Creek, is spotlighting the art of Dianne Saron and Mary Collette, featured artists for May 31 through June 6.

According to Saron, a major influence for her pastel paintings is the way impressionists use color, light and value in their art. She employs those techniques to portray the beauty of Door County. Her favorite subjects include the light reflections on water and rocks and the ever-changing sky.

Saron, of Egg Harbor, is co-chair of the Peninsula School of Art gallery committee and facilitates an art class in Sturgeon Bay.

Collette creates “You’ve Been Bugged” artwork using acrylic paint on smooth, round stones to transform them into expressive “bugs.” The “bugs” are individually packaged for gift-giving. A resident of DePere, Collette visits Door County as frequently as life allows. She works as a commercial photo stylist.

The DCAL gallery is open every day, except Wednesday, from 11 am to 5 pm, 3 pm on Sunday. The gallery, located in the rear courtyard of the Top of the Hill Shops, is a co-op venture staffed by the 23 working artists whose work is featured. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and enjoy browsing in a relaxed and friendly environment. For more information visit doorcountyartleague.org.
