The Women’s Fund of Door County hosts two nights of “Tales of Our Lives – A Story Slam: Empowerment Through Performance.” The talented Story Slammers will tell their tales March 1 & 2 at Door County Fire Co. Social starts at 6 pm, with the slams beginning at 7 pm.
Based on a poetry slam format, a story slam is a show of words by talented individuals exploring the art of storytelling. It puts a major emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they are saying and how they are saying it. The stories range from recovery from the death of a husband to an engagement that nearly didn’t happen to finding inner beauty to coping with a difficult illness. This year’s Story Slammers are Tonya and Mike Felhofer, Isabeau Hitzman, Ryan Shaw, Barb Luhring, Julia Garbowski, Gretel Goettelman, Brit Gartner and Allison Alberts.
Music will be performed by Dorothy Scott and Jess Holland. There will also be a bakery table and cash bar. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. For tickets, call 920.746.1786 or visit WomensFundDoorCounty.org.
