Unexpected Pairings at Woodwalk Gallery

Woodwalk Gallery is featuring artists Tom Maakestad, Dale Vanden Houten, Tom Jenz and Cynthia Linnabary with an interesting combination of 2 and 3-dimensional works. Experience the pairing of the contemporary infused with organic energy. Diverse mediums juxtaposed to reveal an unexpected harmony and beauty.

Tom Maakestad is just returned from working in Austria for a month and his newest works reflect his impressions there as well as a local flavor. He describes his collection of large and small paintings and oil pastels as one that shows immediate places and distinctive moods.

Vanden Houten has created a new series of work for the show. “These artworks explore abstracted geometric landforms from above both real and imagined as one might see from an airplane, revealing the intricate patterns of our earth whether wrought by the hand of man or from the earths constant geological progression.”

Jenz and Linnabary lend an unexpected twist with digitally layered photo painting and organic pottery.

The exhibition opens with a reception Sunday, Aug. 21 from 4:30 – 7 pm and will have light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Come and see what’s new, both inside and out. Enjoy special music by local favorite George Sawyn from 5 – 7 pm.

Woodwalk features about 50 artists who work in all media including jewelry, pottery, wood furniture and accessories, oils, acrylics, pastels and much more all exclusive to the gallery. Woodwalk Gallery is open 10 am – 5 pm seven days a week through the end of October. November and December hours: Friday through Sunday 11 am – 4 pm.
