United Way Executive Director Amy Kohnle announced that the 2018 annual campaign, which ended Jan. 7, raised $551,492.
“This is the result of a caring and compassionate community working to make Door County a great place to live,” Kohnle said. “Although our goal was $600,000, this amount is the second-largest amount we’ve ever raised, and it will make a very big impact.”
United Way of Door County has served the county for decades and currently supports about 30 programs throughout the area. Besides funding assistance, the United Way of Door County also provides pivotal guidance and support to nonprofits.
Kohnle explained that the United Way not only funds programs that assist individuals and families with basic necessities, but it also works to intervene and prevent the factors that contribute to poverty in the first place.
“I want to thank all of our donors, and a big shout-out goes to our staff, volunteers and board members who have worked so hard to make Door County a great place to live,” Kohnle said.
