United Way Fundraising Concert and Raffle

Pack a picnic or beverage, take a drive north on Highway 42 and discover Captain John’s Maple Grove Retro Motel and Open-Air Pavilion. On Aug. 27, 2-4 pm, the pavilion will feature the acoustic group Heneghan Family Folk to benefit United Way. Donations are appreciated, and an anonymous donor will match the first $1,000 raised.

Spouse duo Mike and Gail Heneghan met and began playing Irish folk music at DePaul University in Chicago. Later, they formed a band called Irish Blessing, and later still, Mike became a founding member of the notable Irish folk group Arranmore. Their son, Sean, began singing with them at age 4. Gail and Mike have focused on playing together to support charitable efforts, and they are longtime benefactors and volunteers for United Way.

A raffle with prizes that include restaurant gift certificates, wine from Stone’s Throw Winery and one of Gail’s original acrylic paintings will be held at the concert venue, 797 Hwy 42 in Gills Rock.
