Unity Hospice Receives $10,000 Grant

Unity Hospice has received a $10,000 New York Life Foundation Grief Reach grant to support its research into understanding the need for youth bereavement programs in the community.

“We are grateful for the New York Life Foundation’s investment in this research,” said Alisa Gerke, executive director of Unity Hospice. “As the area’s leading resource for grief support, Unity provides support groups for adults and children, one-on-one counseling and programs such as Healing Thru the Arts and Honor a Life Holiday Gathering.” The foundation created the Grief Reach program to help overcome barriers to providing grief-support services to youth not served by existing bereavement programs. Nearly 300 Grief Reach grants totaling more than $8 million have been awarded since the program began in 2011.
