Upcoming at the Door Community Auditorium

The Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek is proud to host an eclectic array of performances throughout the 2008 season. Upcoming shows include Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers and China’s Renowned Golden Dragon Acrobats.

Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am – 3 pm, weekend show days, 11 am – 3 pm and one hour prior to a performance. The Door Community Auditorium is located in Fish Creek, just north of the town center on Highway 42.

Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers

Named the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Male Vocalist of the Year in 2004 and 2005, Larry Sparks is a legend in his own time. Backed by The Lonesome Ramblers, the band he formed in 1969, Larry Sparks has remained committed to the traditions of bluegrass, the roots of which are planted deep in Appalachian soil. Appearing in concert at the Door Community Auditorium on Sunday, July 20 at 7 pm, Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers will perform some of the most memorable songs in the history of bluegrass.

Larry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers have consistently produced music that is the epitome of what bluegrass was at its roots, recording some of the genre’s classics: “The Coldest Part of Winter,” “The Last Suit You Wear” and the star-studded “40.”

China’s Renowned Golden Dragon Acrobats

Documentation dates the very basics of Chinese acrobatics as nearly 2,500 old. Reflecting their cultural heritage, the earliest troupes of performers developed a unique style of performance that incorporated day-to-day life rituals and functions. Today, the Golden Dragon Acrobats continue to perform the stunning acrobatics, dance, and theatre in the time-honored tradition of their ancestors.

Performing at the Door Community Auditorium on Sunday evening, July 27, at 7 pm, the Golden Dragon Acrobats will thrill and entertain young and old. Attired in stunning costumes both traditional and contemporary, the troupe of 21 performers takes the stage in a show of agility, daring, athleticism and grace.

Today, more than 120 Chinese acrobatic troupes perform at above the “county level,” the Golden Dragons ranks amongst the most dazzling of the groups. Led by artistic/acrobatic director Danny Chang and his wife and business partner choreographer/costume designer Angela Chang, the troupe has earned countless awards and recognitions for its performances. The Golden Dragons have performed in all 50 states and 65 countries on five continents; this summer the troupe embarked on its 28th American tour.

Tickets for The Golden Dragon Acrobats are $30/$26, and $10 for children 12 and under.
