“Between Land and Sea” is the theme of Birch Creek’s upcoming concert on July 1. The Birch Creek Symphony Orchestra will perform Bedrich Smetana’s “The Moldau from Mل Vlast,” a piece depicting the journey of the Moldau River through the composer’s homeland, the Czech Republic.
Birch Creek faculty members Matthew Mantell, viola, and Alan Steiner, bass, will be featured in a piece entitled “Sinfonia Concertante in D Major for Viola and Bass” by Austrian composer Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf.
The holiday weekend will be celebrated with a complimentary pie and ice cream social for all concertgoers at 5:30 pm on July 2. The pop concert “Encore!” will begin at a special time of 6:30 pm and will feature season highlights as well as a variety of pops favorites including Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty Waltz.”
Birch Creek tuba faculty member Cynthia Stark will be featured on George Kleinsinger’s “Tubby the Tuba.” Bass faculty member Alan Steiner will narrate the piece.
Percussion & Steel Band concerts begin on July 7 with a concert entitled “United in Rhythm.” Birch Creek’s Steelpan Artist-in-Residence Liam Teague will be featured in concerts from July 7 – 9.
Birch Creek Music Performance Center is located at 3821 County Road E, Egg Harbor. All concerts begin at 8 pm with pre-concert music beginning at 7:30 pm.
