Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.
• Speed limit and pedestrian signage will be installed on Garrett Bay Road at the approach to the launch ramp area. Still under consideration is how to proceed with the area known as the Hidding purchase, which is across from the Garrett Bay launch ramp.
• The proposed Well Head Protection Ordinance has been sent to the Health, Safety and Welfare Committee. They will develop a new ordinance based on what is applicable to Liberty Grove.
• The lease with the Postal Department has been signed for their use of the North Fire Station as a temporary Post Office during the remodeling of the Ellison Bay Post Office. Remodeling should begin soon.
• An ad hoc committee will bring their recommendations to the Parks Committee on what to do with the Cedar Tree hedge between Will Park and the marina. Numerous citizens expressed their concerns about losing the quiet and peaceful nature of the park if the trees were removed.
• Buoys, lines, floats and signage will be installed at the Ellison Bay swim area to delineate the swimming area and the beach.
• The Highway Committee has considered the implementation of a study of bicycle routes in Liberty Grove.
• The Clearing is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year. Special event parking will be allowed on Garrett Bay Road on June 10 and September 11.
• The adjourned Board of Review will be held Wednesday, August 18, 1 – 3 pm, at the Town Hall.
• A round table discussion of possible initiatives with members of the LG Historical Society, Top of the Thumb Association, Ellison Bay Service Club and Gills Rock Advancement Association was held May 25 by the Economic Sustainability Committee.
• The Summer “Listening Session” by the board has been scheduled for 7 pm Wednesday, August 25 at the Town Hall.
• The Board approved the placement of DC Visitor Bureau kiosk information signs to be place on the Ellison Bay Information Center.
