USPS Announces Dog Bite Prevention Week

The United States Postal Service announces Dog Bite Prevention Week from May 19 – 25.

Last year in the Lakeland District, encompassing all Door County Post Offices, there were 180 dog bite incidents. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) report that small children, the elderly, and letter carriers, in that order, are the most frequent victims of dog bites.

This week should prompt people to be extra cautious and more responsible around dogs.
