USS Little Rock Sea Trials in Lake Michigan

The USS Little Rock was recently performing sea trials in Lake Michigan. The Freedom-class littoral combat ship was built at Marinette Marine and is expected to be commissioned in Buffalo, New York, in November. In this photo taken by Capt. Jim Robinson of Shoreline Scenic Cruise & Charters, the Little Rock is coming through Deaths Door on her way down the bay. The vessel is 378.3 feet long and with two gas turbines, two diesel engines and four Rolls-Royce waterjets, the Little Rock can reach 45 knots (52 mph).
