UU Gallery Exhibits Graphic Renderings

“The Gathering Dark” by Gary Hanks.

The UU Gallery in Ephraim is pleased to exhibit magical graphic renderings by Gary Hanks throughout January and February.

Hanks focuses on light in his renderings, and says, “For me light is magical, having the power to lift the spirit and move the emotions. Light is mystical and illusive; its absence can be as intriguing as its presence. It is the prospect of light, in all its forms, which captivates my imagination.”

Hanks career in the arts has taken many paths; he has worked his way through studio art, art education and art history. As a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin his area of interest was medieval art. He toured Europe studying medieval art and also studying the history of landscape painting. He has ventured into self-styled tours to remote places to gather subject matter and gain inspiration.

This exhibit of graphite renderings demonstrates his interpretation of things he has seen and remembered with an added element of imagination. The one-of-a-kind renderings are all accomplished with graphite pencil.

All exhibited artwork is for sale; pieces are matted, but not framed. For more information about Hanks, visit http://www.GaryHanksArt.com.

UU Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 – 3 pm and Sunday from 11 am – 12:30 pm.

The UU Gallery is located at 10341 Highway 42, just south of the Green Gables shops, in Ephraim. For more information visit uufdc.org.
