UUFDC Has Donated $40,000-Plus to Local Nonprofits

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County’s (UUFDC) 25th-anniversary fundraiser has raised more than $40,000 for various local nonprofits in total, and funds raised for the Door County Housing Partnership closed out the fellowship’s community-support initiative with a $9,000 donation.

“There is no doubt that we are a community willing to make a difference,” said Henk Wolst, president of the UUFDC’s board of directors. “We started the anniversary year off hoping to reach a total of $25,000 in donations and ended up far exceeding that goal.”

Throughout the year, quarterly collections were directed to local nonprofits to address critical areas of need in the county. Those beneficiaries – the Boys and Girls Club of Door County, Door County Food Pantry Coalition, and HELP of Door County – each received a check for $7,500, and a special spring appeal for Ukraine raised an additional $10,000 for the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee to support organizations aiding in refugee efforts.
