UWGB Professor to Discuss Aquifer Contamination

Angela Bauer, professor of human biology at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, will speak on concerns emerging over the presence of endocrine-disrupting chemicals in aquifers used as drinking water on July 17, 6:30 pm, at the Farm Market Kitchen in Algoma.

This presentation will include evidence that the aquifer in five agricultural areas of Northeast Wisconsin, including Brown and Kewaunee counties, are particularly vulnerable to contamination with endocrine-disrupting chemicals, given the geologic features of this area that allow ready access of surface contaminants to groundwater. The potential health impacts of exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals at the levels detected will also be discussed.

This presentation is sponsored by Kewaunee CARES, Door County Environmental Council and Clean Water Action Council.
