Valmy Thresheree Scheduled for Aug. 16 – 18

The Valmy Thresheree is fast approaching, with events running from Aug. 16 – 18. Featured this year are Oliver, Hart Parr and Hit & Miss Engines. All weekend there will be antique machinery in operation, many displays including the new sawmill, and food & refreshments will be served all weekend.

Thresheree gates will open at 6 pm on Friday with country music by Centerline from 7 to 11 pm.

The chainsaw competition starts off Saturday’s events at 9:30 am, and the antique tractor pull follows at 11:30 am. Tractors from the year 1955 and earlier are welcome; weigh-in is 9 – 11:15 am.

Jerry Voelker will provide polka music for the afternoon barn dance, 2 – 5 pm, followed by a polka mass at 5:30 pm with Rev. Tony Birdsall. John Welch Country Band will provide entertainment from 8 pm to midnight.

A Lutheran service will start Sunday’s event at 8:30 am with Pastor Ben Enstad. At 10 am children can compete in a pedal tractor pull. There will also be the “Best Little Farmer Dress Up” contest and other games.

At 10 am, the Lena Area Garden Tractor Pullers Association competition begins and during intermission at 12 pm, the Cavalcade of Power Parade of Antique Machines will be in front of the Grandstands. The Bittorf Brothers will perform in the Pavilion from 12 – 3 pm.

Mud pig wrestling begins at 3:30 pm, and the drawing for raffle prizes, including the grand prize – a Farmall B Tractor or $1,000 – follows the wrestling.
