Various Programs at the Crossroads of Door County

Crossroads at Big Creek will continue offering programming and educational opportunities throughout July.

July 17 a Quilt Show and Ice Cream Social will take place at The Historical Village. Hundreds of beautiful handcrafted quilts will be on display. The event will feature a quilt show and competition, with prizes donated by the Barn Door Quilt Shop. Participants will have the opportunity to practice and take home small quilting projects, attend mini-lectures hourly and purchase baked goods and soft drinks to benefit the Door County Barn Quilt Project. A trunk show of quilts by Chris Kinka will be on display in the Collins Learning Center. Admission to the trunk show is $2 (with proceeds supporting the Barn Quilt Project); activities in The Historical Village are free and open to the public.

On July 18, “School Days in 1900″ will take place in the Vignes School in the Historical Village. At 1:30 pm, participants can experience daily lessons such as reading, writing, arithmetic, history, science, or music in a rural schoolhouse.

On July 19 at 1:30 pm, families can learn more about fish that live in Lake Michigan during the free “Great Lakes Fish” program. On July 20 at 1:30 pm, “The 1900 Chapel” will feature hymns on the pump organ as well as stories on the first pioneer church in Door County. On July 21, families can enjoy vegetables and flowers grown in the Heritage Garden during a program called “Country Garden.”
