Veterans Honored in Ellison Bay March 29

Last year, President Trump signed into law the “Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017,” establishing March 29 as “National Vietnam War Veterans Day.” Accordingly, all veterans who served in the Armed Forces from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, as well as their families, will be honored March 29 at the Military Circle of Honor, just west of Highway 42 across from Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church overlooking Ellison Bay. The Vietnam Commemoration flag from the Door County Veterans’ Services office will be raised at the Honor Circle atop Ellison Bay Bluff. Vietnam veterans in attendance will receive lapel pins, and families of Vietnam veterans who have died will receive a certificate of recognition for their service and sacrifice. The ceremony will be held at noon Thursday, March 29, 2018. Please call Vietnam-era Navy nurse LT-JG Faith Murray at 920.421.1477 so she can know how many pins and certificates to order.
