ViBE at Bjِrklunden

Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a joint concert on Oct. 5 at 1:30 pm. The Viking Bassoon Ensemble (ViBE), under the direction of Carl Rath, will perform several compositions from their upcoming November concert program at Lawrence featuring works composed for bassoon ensemble rather than music composed for other instrumentation and then arranged for bassoons.

The ViBE will combine for a Beatles medley, a Dubois Scherzo, and “Le Phenix” by Michel Corrette. They will also preview a little of their winter concert, the rock opera “Tommy.” Additionally, the Lawrence University Oboes will perform under the direction of Howard Niblock. Large ensembles will perform works by Wellesz, Legrenzi, Joplin and more.

This free concert is sponsored by the Boynton Society and will be held in Bjِrklunden’s Vail Hall. Entrance to the Bjِrklunden lodge is located on Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor, across from Anschutz Plumbing.
