“Victory Farm” Onstage at Door Community Auditorium through Oct. 19

“Victory Farm” will be performed at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek through Oct. 19.

Performances of Victory Farm continue at the Door Community Auditorium through Oct. 19. Victory Farm, written by Emilie Coulson and Katie Dahl with music by James Valcq, is a story with roots deep in the soil of a Door County cherry orchard.

It’s 1944. With a war raging overseas and a labor shortage on the home front, Edna and her daughter Dottie aren’t sure how their farm will make it through – until help arrives in the most unexpected way. Written with humor and tenderness, Victory Farm is an uplifting tale of family, forgiveness, and the fruits of our labor.

Dahl recently wrote in an AFT newsletter, “I know Victory Farm as intimately as I might know my own recordings, or even my own child if I had one. From 2006 until 2012, I watched the show grow from the tiniest seed of an idea into a big, vibrant, fully-fledged musical theater production. And yet, watching the show in the clear, enclosed dark of the Auditorium a few weeks ago, I felt like I was watching the play with headphones on. I was able to watch closer than before, to notice things I’d never noticed before – the way one lyric plays off another, the look of quiet joy on an actor’s face.”

Victory Farm will be performed Monday through Friday at 7:30 pm and on Saturday at 4 & 8 pm. AFT continues its performances into the fall with shows in Door County indoor venues through October and over the Christmas holidays. For more information, call 920.854.6117 or visit FolkloreTheatre.com.
