Vikineers Blank Roncalli 5-0

Gibraltar/Sevastopol blanked Roncalli 5-0 in a non conference girls soccer match Monday.

The Vikineers scored twice in the first half. Molly Banks assisted Reetika Jandu on the first goal, and Rachel Hietpas scored off of a corner kick from Kayla Copiskey.  

The Vikineers put the game out of reach with three goals in the second half. Banks scored on an assist from McKenzie Wiesner, and Kayla Scharrig scored twice on assists from Chilina Cuellar and Ainsley Salisbury.

Baseball

Luke Steebs tossed a one-hitter to help Gibraltar blank Southern Door 10-0 and gain a split in a Packerland Conference baseball doubleheader Monday.

Southern Door won the opener 5-2.

Steebs didn’t issue a walk an allowed Max Pierre’s double in the third inning

The Vikings took control game with six runs in the second inning and added four more in the third to put the game away. Andras Szakala and Brandon Stillman each had three RBIs and Trevor Reinhardt added two RBI’s. Sam Lindenberg and Reinhardt scored two runs.

Southern Door’s Charlie Neinas scattered three hits and struck out four in the opener. Logan Jeanquart, Tyler Kroll, Devin Schinkton, Neinas and Pierre each had an RBI.

Steebs and Spencer Krause each had an RBI for Gibraltar.

Hunter Moore’s single in the eighth inning scored Isaac Berkley with the winning run as Sturgeon Bay stopped Sevastopol 4-3 in a Packerland Conference baseball double header Monday.

The Clippers won the second game 14-4.

In the opener, Trent Ehler’s two-run single in the seventh inning tied the game a 3. Berkley retired all four batters he faced and escaped a bases-loaded jam to pick up the pitching win.

Reece Nellis had three hits and four RBIs in the nightcap. Ryan Jacobson, Jake Schneider and Berkley each had multiple hits. Winning pitcher Ehlers pitched a complete game.   

Softball

Southern Door swept a Packerland Conference softball doubleheader with Gibraltar Monday. The Eagles won the opener 6-0 and the second game 8-1.

In the opener, Lexi Wery had three hits and four RBIs. Jackie Atkins and Kendra Dantoin each had two hits. Wery pitched five innings and struck out eight.

Southern Door’s Grace LeGrave had a home run and a triple in the second game. Nicole Norton had two hits and Tehya Bertrand had a two-run home run. Grace LeGrave struck out nine and allowed two hits and one run.

Sturgeon Bay swept a Packerland Conference doubleheader against Sevastopol Monday. The Clippers won the first game 10-6 and the second game 17-1.

Sturgeon Bay’s Sam Different had three RBIs in the opener, and Karley Schram added two RBIs.  Schram had two hits, while Katie Frank scored three runs. Winning pitcher Erin Haese struck out seven.

Karley Schram went 1 for 2 with a two run home run for Sevastopol. Sam Differt went 1 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.

In the second game, Gracee Abeyta and Katie Frank each had three RBIs, and Koko Hartzell and Jaiden Adams had two each. Abeyta scored four runs and Hartzell scored three.

Sevastopol’s Amber Roalkvan went 2 for 3, Sasha Laaksonen and Lauren Junion each went 1 for 2.
