Vikineers Top Clippers in Boys Soccer, 1-0

In Thursday’s matchup of two Door County boys soccer teams previously undefeated this season in the Packerland Conference, only one goal was tallied between them.

Gibraltar/Sevastopol scored in the 36th minute on a goal from freshman Damien Lardinois, who was assisted on a free kick from senior Garrett Voight, giving the Vikineers a 1-0 victory at Sturgeon Bay.

Gibraltar/Sevastopol senior goalkeeper Theo Goode made 18 saves to record the shutout in net.

The Vikineers only had two shots on goal for the entire game.

“Sturgeon Bay fielded a fantastic team and decisively dominated possession and scoring opportunities,” said Vikineers head coach Chris Roedl. “Our game plan going in was to play defensively and weather the storm. Perhaps the soccer gods looked favorably upon us and we capitalized on some luck, but the team did a nice job executing the game plan.”

Gibraltar/Sevastopol improved its conference record to 4-0, while Sturgeon Bay dropped to 3-1.
