Vikings, Eagles Seeded No. 3 in Baseball Tourney

The WIAA baseball tournament pairings are out, and two Door County teams will have opening-round byes after receiving No. 3 seeds.

In Division 4, No. 3-seeded Gibraltar/Washington Island will host a regional semifinal game May 30 at 4:30 pm against the winner of the May 25 quarterfinal between No. 11-seeded Almond-Bancroft and No. 6-seeded Rosholt.

The semifinal winner will play for the regional championship May 31 against the winner of either No. 2-seeded Stevens Point Pacelli or its semifinal opponent, which will be determined in the May 25 quarterfinal between No. 7-seeded Lena and No. 10-seeded Wild Rose.

Sevastopol, which is a No. 12 seed in Division 4, opens the tournament May 25 at 4:30 pm in a regional quarterfinal at No. 5-seeded Iola-Scandivania. That winner advances to the semifinals to face the winner between No. 4-seeded Algoma and No. 13-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas.

In Division 3, No. 3-seeded Southern Door will host its regional semifinal May 30 against the winner of the May 25 quarterfinal between No. 11-seeded Valders and No. 6-seeded Howards Grove.

The semifinal winner will play for the regional championship May 31 against the winner of either No. 2-seeded Kiel or its semifinal opponent, which will be determined in the May 25 quarterfinal between No. 7-seeded Brillion and No. 10-seeded Omro.

In Division 2, Sturgeon Bay received a No. 11 seed and will play a regional quarterfinal May 25 at No. 6-seeded Shawano. The winner advances to the May 30 semifinal at No. 3-seeded Little Chute.
