Vikings Victorious Over Pioneers in Boys Hoops

After two of Door County’s boys basketball teams entered Saturday’s Packerland Conference contest in Fish Creek without a league victory this season, it was the home team that got into the win column.

Gibraltar led by 18 points at halftime and went on to defeat Sevastopol, 74-49.

The Vikings, who had 12 of their players score, were led by Carl Burgess with 16 points. Braden Sitte also tallied double figures with 12 points.

Three of the six Pioneer players who scored were in double figures led by Frankie de Young with 12 points. Lucas Delsart and Daniel Castillo each added 11 points.

Gibraltar, which improved to 1-4 in the Packerland and 2-7 overall, hosts a non-conference game Tuesday against Menominee, Michigan, before returning to league action Friday at Southern Door.

Sevastopol (0-5, 2-8) hosts a non-conference game Monday night against Mishicot before hosting its next conference game Friday against Kewaunee.

The Wolves had three players score in double figures led by Owen Robertson with 13 points. Kaden Vardon added 12 points with Chase Romdenne scoring 10 more.
