Earlier this year the Village Board hired Stantec Consulting to complete a housing plan to help identify the number and types of housing needed to address workforce housing needs, as well as a subdivision design, home plans and financing strategies. The plan is to be completed by the end of the year.
To help the consultant finalize the work, the village is collecting information from area workers who desire to own a home in Sister Bay to a public input session on Saturday, Dec. 9, 9 am-noon, at the Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Fire Station, 2258 Mill Rd. in Sister Bay. The input will help the consultant finalize the study and enable the village to understand what the users want and need, according to Julie Schmelzer, village administrator. Registration is required by contacting Village Clerk Heidi Teich at [email protected]. The session is open for three hours to allow workers the ability to stop by at their convenience, provide some anonymous information and fill out some questionnaires. Area students have volunteered their time to watch participants’ children. As a thank you to the Sister Bay workforce, the community has teamed together to offer holiday gift bags to the prospective homeowners who attend the event.
