The Peninsula Music Festival announced that Grammy Award-winning and Gramophone Winner violinist James Ehnes will bring his trio, cellist Robert deMaine and pianist Andrew Armstrong, to Door County for one performance on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 7 pm. The concert will be held at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church as a fundraiser for the Peninsula Music Festival’s radio broadcasts. Because of the generosity of new concert sponsors, Ron and Pat Carkoski, tickets for this concert are just $40.

James Ehnes and Andrew Armstrong are audience favorites with the Peninsula Music Festival. James Ehnes has appeared numerous times with the Peninsula Music Festival since 2000. In addition to attending a once in a lifetime concert, audience members will have an opportunity to meet the artists, purchase CDs, and enjoy a dessert buffet provided by Dianne Trenchard of Bay Ridge Golf Course. Also, bidding will take place on a package that includes four tickets to the closing night concert of the 2009 season, featuring Ehnes, an invitation to one rehearsal, post-concert party, an autographed copy of Ehnes’ CD, along with a photo with the trio.

All proceeds of the concert will benefit the Wisconsin Public Radio broadcasts the Peninsula Music Festival records each season. The broadcasts are an important form of outreach allowing for a much larger audience and bringing the Festival Orchestra to a new audience who may attend future concerts.

“I am very excited that this recital is finally happening,” commented PMF Executive Director Sharon Grutzmacher. “I appreciate the work that the trio has put into making this date work and coming to Door County to perform for our wonderful audience.”
