Virtual Dementia Tours Offered March 10

The dementia-care specialist with the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore will host virtual dementia tours – two sessions with a capacity limit of six people each – on March 10.

Dementia is currently the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States, with Alzheimer’s being the most common cause of dementia among older adults. This disease is often difficult to understand and sensitive to discuss, and caregivers of those with dementia may not know about the resources available to help them.

The virtual dementia tour – a combination of a simulation and a debriefing session – is a training tool that allows caregivers to experience what it might be like to have dementia and offers a host of knowledge to assist them in their caregiving journey.

The virtual dementia tour in Kewaunee County will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 700 Heritage Road in Luxemburg. Call the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore at 877.416.7083 to learn more and register.
