Visit Sustainability Fair this Weekend

Fans of renewable energy and sustainable practices are invited to free events on April 25 and 26 in Sturgeon Bay to explore Stewardship Today for a Better Tomorrow at the fifth Sustainable Living Fair.

On April 25 at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay, three dynamic speakers will explore “Our Water Resources” from 6:30 to 9 pm.

Saturday’s event at Martin Park in downtown Sturgeon Bay will run from 10 am to 4 pm and feature a variety of life skills, demonstrations and Door Peninsula Astronomical Society’s sun viewing with telescopes.

This year’s event organizers include Sustain Door, the Door County Environmental Council, Clean Water Action Council of Northeastern Wisconsin, Door County Climate Change Coalition, Door Peninsula Astronomical Society and the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership.

The following are life skill demonstrations taking place during the day:

9:45 – 10 am: Yoga salutation opening ceremony

10 – 10:20 am: Eco-building design

10:30 – 10:50 am: Straw bale homes

11 – 11:20 am: Greenhouse design & usage

11:30 – 11:50 am: Solar heating and photovoltaics

12 – 2 pm: Trolley tours & children’s activities

2 – 2:20 pm: Compost tea, soil prep & landscaping

2:30 – 2:50 pm: Maintaining our pollinators

3 – 3:20 pm: Urban gardening and permaculture

3:30 – 3:50 pm: Food prep, canning & beer making
